For over ten years I have been interested
in theories on human evolution. Different theories provide different
images.
You see here images of Australopithecines
(~1.5 mio - 4 mio years ago), Homo Habilis ( ~ 1 mio years ago),
Homo Erectus (~400 000), Neanderthal people ( ~ 30K - 200K years
ago).
My support for the AQUATIC THEORY is
expressed in these paintings. I also support the view that 'culture'
is an evolutionary buffer.

PREHISTORIC HUMAN. Which I have compiled for my exhibition at the
Phoenix Gallery in Exeter.
Our
distant ancestors are mythological creatures. They communicate with
us not via reason or understanding. Whatever traces they have left
are like faded footprints in the sand - talking tales of days gone
by.
It
seems fitting for images that illustrate such tales to search for
the myth through which we are still connected, rather than wholly
imaginary pictures of what might have been.
If we
dig up the past, and, if we wish to honour ourselves through it, we
need to find ways of looking at it with reverence.
